Plans are to use POP3 and SMTP. POP3 for retrieving mail and SMTP for sending mail.

The browser will have special functions for organizing and displaying the email. If a user wants to create and email or edit an existing one, a geoWrite file will be created and then the browser will launch geoWrite. Upon exiting geoWrite, the browser can then display the newly created file and/or send it out.

You'll also be able to set up disks or partitions for storing your incoming and outgoing mail. I suspect the mail facilites to be the most used function in The Wave.
